Install Microsoft Office 2000 with XML support on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 using Wine

by on May.08, 2012, under Exchange 2007

With Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 Linux Operating System you can use Wine 1.2 (Beta) to install Microsoft Office 2000 (SR-1 or higher) with Office 2007 (Compatibility Pack) XML file format support. The Microsoft Office 2000 installation will provide a fully functional Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Access and Outlook will not work well with Wine. If you have Microsoft Office 2000 without any of the Service Releases (SR) already integrated into the main Setup routine, you’ll need to slipstream at least SR-1 into the original Microsoft Office 2000 Setup routine to be able to install the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. Please note that you’ll need to have a license copy of Microsoft Office 2000 and adhere to Microsoft Licensing agreement.
